Vinter conditions represent a number of challenges

Last year, Time municipality in Rogaland county decided to improve its snow- and ice-clearing operations in order to make areas more accessible to everyone. Now it has evaluated last winter’s efforts.

The coat of arms of the cities of Warsaw and Bergen Bergen and Warsaw have carried out a twin town collaboration focusing on accessibility and cultural monuments. The final report presents studies and observations in the Polish capital and in Bergen and shows examples of good practice.

The UD Oslo 2012 logoFive ministries and several civil service departments are behind an initiative to arrange an international conference on universal design in Oslo 11th to 13th of June 2012.

Picture from one of the films.The Agency for Road and Transport in Oslo, together with the Porsgrunn and Skien municipalities, has made five short films about universal design. These films are funny and their messages are simple and to the point. They can also be used by others in connection with talks and seminars, for example.

Norwegian universal design activities are given high marks in a comparison presented in a Council of Europe report. The report discusses how to achieve full participation through universal design, and describes how far universal design efforts have come – and how they are being implemented – in eleven different countries.
