The Norwegian thematic report that defines and elaborates on the concept of universal design is now available in Polish, bringing the number of language versions available up to ten, not counting Norwegian.

Poland is the most recent addition to the list of countries that have chosen to incorporate Norwegian experiences and results into their activities to enhance accessibility through universal design.

The Norwegian authorities seek to play an active role in promoting an ongoing international dialogue on the understanding and use of the concept of universal design, and they welcome the Polish decision to have the Norwegian report into their national language.

In Norway, universal design principles have been integrated into a wide variety of political documents, regulations and technical guidelines. The concept of universal design is a useful tool in increasing awareness of the intrinsic value of good functionality and accessibility as part of a society. The term is also becoming more commonly used and recognised in the Norwegian language.

The Polish language version was translated by Magdalena Boruc in the Polish Ministry of Social and Labour Affairs. The publication, which also contains information in English, will be printed in Poland by the Office of Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People.
